We would like to give credit to Mondio Ring Switzerland for establishing a working relationship with the public on proper K9 handling.
The following comic strips were translated from the http://www.mondioring.ch website.

A Dog is Man's Best Friend.
Dogs are Dogs, so their language must also be understood.
In the following pictures, you will see proper knowledge in how to correctly interact with a canine.

This knowledge is very important, especially with children

In General, These Apply to Normal Dogs and Extreme Caution must be taken, especially when a Vicious Dog is Encountered.

1. Treat a dog always in such a way, how you would like to be treated gladly!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
If you annoy or hurt the dog, the dog cannot say: " Stop! " It can only avoid you - or show its teeth in anger. You can avoid that easily: Play with the dog so that it is fun for him.

2. Never go to a strange dog, without asking permission from the owner!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
Most dogs love to play happily with children. Some dogs, however, may have had bad experiences with strangers and are not too humans. Always ask the owner whether the dog likes to be petted, if you go up to it.

Correct!! (Right!)

3. You should never stare a dog in the eyes!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
If you stare at a dog rigidly into the eyes, then to him it means: "You are challenging me to see who is stronger!" Since the dog is much stronger than you, YOU should not provoke it to fight.
Picture
Correct!! (Right!)

4. Be kind to a dogs tail.  Do not pull or step on his tail!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
A dog speaks with its tail. If for example, it wags its tail, then that means; " I am pleased! "  To pull a dogs tail is that same as punching a person in the mouth.
Picture
Correct!! (Right!)

5. Do not disturb a dog while it is eating and do not attempt to take its food away from him.

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
For the dog, food is one of the most important things in the world. If someone takes its food away from him, he can become very angry. How would you like it if someone took away your food without asking you first?
Picture
Correct!! (Right!)

6. Never annoy a locked up dog,  you may regret it tomorrow when he is on your side of the fence!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
The dog barks, in order to defend its territory against people that it does not know.  It is wise that you not intrude and simply continue to walk on your way.
Picture
Correct!! (Right!)

7. Do not attempt 'in any case' to separate dogs if they are fighting with one another!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
If dogs are fighting, it is often not as bad, as it looks: Usually they only want to figure out, who is the stronger dog. Humans, who intervene, can be easily get bitten.  Leave it to the owners to separate their dogs.
Picture
Correct!! (Right!)

8. Extremely importantly: Never Run from a dog, even if you have fear from it!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
The dog is a hunting animal: If you run away from it, he will try you to catch you.  A dog runs faster than you.  If YOU remain standing still and do not look at him, he will not bother you.
Picture
Correct!! (Right!)

9. Do not move, if a dog holds you with his teeth!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
The dog does not have hands and uses its teeth in order to reach for you. Perhaps it holds your hand, because it has fear for you. Or it does not want you to leave it. It is best if you stay quite and remain still, until he releases you.
Picture
Correct!! (Right!)

10. Play with a dog only if an adult is present!

Picture
Not Correct! (Never!)
An adult is stronger than you are and can control a dog with ease. Thus, play only with a dog, when an adult is around, so you could ask for assistance if needed.

Correct!! (Right!)
